9 Reasons You May Weigh Too Much

You eat too much yogurt.

Despite its reputation as a diet food, yogurt contains a substance that has been fed for years to farm animals to fatten them: acidophilus.

review of 17 randomized control trials in humans and 14 experimental models concluded that acidophilus caused significant weight gain in humans.

Acidophilus isn't necessary to yogurt, but you'll see it in yogurts labeled probiotic, as well as Greek yogurt, non-dairy yogurt, and kefir, a fermented milk drink. Most popular yogurt brands also contain high amounts of sugar.

Eating just two to three containers of yogurt can add about 500 calories and 100 grams of sugar to your daily diet. This can lead to weight gain and increase your risk of diabetes.

Your gut bacteria make a real difference in your weight and health, but loading up on any one thing isn’t a great idea. The real lesson here is not to eat too much of any one food; aim for variety.
