How to Catch the Symptoms of Celiac Disease — Page 3
Testing for celiac disease
The main blood test, the tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG-IgA) test, is positive for about 98 percent of people with celiac disease who have been eating gluten.
The trouble is that you have to be eating gluten for the test to be accurate, and many people stop eating it before getting tested.
Other tests can rule out false negatives and positive. A biopsy of the small intestine is the surest way to diagnose celiac disease.
