Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Symptoms — Page 5
How is gastroesophageal reflux disease diagnosed?
Your doctor can insert a flexible tub through your nose into your esophagus. It’s called a 24-hour impedance-probe study. The tube detects whether the acid is refluxing past your esophagus.
You can also have an upper endoscopy, a tube with a camera that looks inside your stomach and small intestine. It’s inserted through your mouth. You will be sedated. With this procedure, your doctor can take tissue samples to look for signs of tumors, inflammation, or ulcers.
